Food Rules, Rule Number Twenty

March 29, 2010

Okay, you know the meal, the one that has each of the food groups represented: The Fry Group, The Massive Carbonated Beverage Group, and the Funny-Named Hamburger Group.

Each of the major fast-food chains will deliver up a meal with these components, and they’ll be happy, depending on the venue, to slide it out of a window in the side of their building and in through the window of your car. It’s fast, it’s convenient, and it’s one of the ways to ensure that you can continue to add mass to the part of you that holds down the seat in your vehicle.

I attend Weight Watcher’s meetings, and while they will not call any single foodstuff evil in and of itself, they are constantly warning us about eating in our cars. The simple fact is that most of what you can drive up and get put in your car to eat is not what you would call “healthy” by any metric. Stay away, unless you manage to find a drive-up window at a Farmer’s Market. And when you do, put it in the comments section so the rest of us can go!
